Pep Guardiola would not stand in Ilkay Gundogan’s way if he wanted to quit Manchester City.Inter Milan are reportedly keen on Gundogan and will move for the midfielder if they can finish in Serie A’s top four and secure Champions League football for next season.Inter feel the extra revenue from qualifying for the Champions League and the lure of more regular first-team football may attract the German international.
Gundogan, 27, made 30 Premier League appearances for the champions, although half were as substitute, and Guardiola claims he will not block anyone leaving who wants more game time.
The former Borussia Dortmund star, who joined City in 2016, was omitted for most of the Blues’ big games, while his inclusion at Anfield in the Champions League ahead of Raheem Sterling contributed to their loss.
Guardiola would not stop any player wanting to leave and when asked recently how much business City would do this summer, said: “Not too much.
“Maybe players who are not happy and want to play more will ask to leave, but not too much.”
