Steven Gerrard believes Liverpool can “really hurt” Real Madrid should they beat Roma and reach the Champions League final.
The Reds legend was watching Los Blancos’ semi-final second leg against Bayern as a pundit.
Despite Real Madrid progressing to the final with a 2-2 draw, Gerrard believes he’s seen enough to think Liverpool could beat the competition’s holders.
“If you think about the amount of chances Bayern had over the two legs, I can’t see Liverpool being that wasteful,” Gerrard told BT Sport.
“I think Liverpool are more clinical than Bayern Munich and if those chances come about in a final I think they could really hurt them.”
Gerrard’s opinion was supported by Lampard and Ferdiand.
“I think they [Liverpool] will [fancy they’re chances],” the former Chelsea star added. “We kept highlighting areas around full-backs and centre-halves today, and we’ve seen it time and time again in both of these legs.
“As we know this is Liverpool’s real strength – to get in these areas.
“If you start imaging these players like Mo Salah, Mane, even the full-backs in terms of Robertson overlapping it’s where Liverpool are so strong.
“If Liverpool give them those chances they can certainly hurt them.”
Ferdinand said: “If they go into that game and play 4-4-2 the way they did today I think they’ll get picked apart and destroyed in the final. I don’t see them doing that, I see them playing the three in midfield and making sure they don’t get outnumbered in that area.”
