BREAKING Four people found frozen to death in Swiss Alps and five seriously injured after hiking tragedy

Four people have frozen to death in the Swiss Alps after a hiking group was stranded outdoors overnight.

Rescuers found a total of 14 people, some of whom had hypothermia.

Another had probably died as a result of a fall.

Five remain in a serious condition, according to police.

The casualties were taken by helicopter to hospitals in the area but three more died, the statement said.

The hikers were Italian, French and German.
