What the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge secretly treated themselves to after the birth of George

Any day now, the Duchess of Cambridge will be safely ensconced in the luxurious confines of the private Lindo Wing at St Mary’s.

There, she’ll be able to enjoy the perks which come with paying upwards of £5900 for a birth package.

Perks such as art installations, a glass of champers waiting for you once the baby has arrived and chef-made food (including afternoon tea).

But despite the culinary delights on offer, when Kate gave birth to Prince George, she hankered after something a little less fancy.

While Kate was in and out of hospital the same day with Princess Charlotte, things took a little longer with George.

Kate and William leave the Lindo Wing with Charlotte – without having had pizza

The Duchess laboured for 11 hours and stayed overnight in the Lindo Wing.

When you’ve just delivered the future King of England, you probably need to get your strength back.

So instead of any of the food available on the Lindo Wing, Kate and William opted for takeaway pizza, PopSugar reports.

A member of their security team was then sent out to a Zizzi’s around the corner from the hospital and came back with two boxes.

Giving birth to the future King of England is hungry work

The couple have since revealed they’re partial to the odd takeaway.

As for what’s going to happen this time around, that remains to be seen. With it being Kate’s third child, she could be in and out in the same day again.

The parking restrictions are up, but we’ll have to wait and see if the Cambridges order in something like a sneaky Nando’s.
